Select your supplies based on availability and on how permanent the structure is intended to be. Also keep in mind privacy issues as you construct your retreat. For outdoor hideouts, use wood, pine straw, twigs, tree branches and other materials available in the outdoors so your hideout will weather the elements well. For indoor hideouts, comfort and availability are the only guidelines.

Bring games or craft projects to personalize your space and for entertainment. An indoor hideout is even easier to furnish since weather conditions are not a factor. Using pillows, chairs or blankets as furniture -- comfortable and portable -- makes furnishing any indoor hideout an easy task.
