DIY Polymer Clay Dollhouse

A fabulously sturdy miniature clay dollhouse can be made from polymer clay, which benefits from an uncomplicated kitchen oven hardening process. Once the dollhouse structure has been constructed, the polymer clay can be used to create dolls and the dollhouse furniture. Polymer clay is available in a large variety of colors at craft supply stores. Making the dollhouse, dolls and furniture would be a great continuous project for a creative child over the age of 8.

Instructions

    • 1

Roll out the polymer clay with the rolling pin until the clay is 1/4-inch thick.

    • 2

Cut a square of polymer clay to measure 12-inches square, using the ruler and the serrated knife.

    • 3

Cut out a 6-inch high and 3-inch wide doorway in the bottom of the square. Cut out two 2-inch square windows on the top half of the square with the ruler and knife to make the front of the dollhouse.

    • 4

Cut out three rectangles that measure 12-inches long and 6-inches wide. Press the long edges of the rectangles on to the edges of the dollhouse front to make the dollhouse frame.

    • 5

Place the dollhouse frame on a cookie sheet and bake it in the oven at 175 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. Cool for 20 minutes.

    • 6

Cut a piece of polymer clay to measure 11-inches long by 5-inches wide. Cut two pieces of polymer clay to measure 5-inches by 5 1/2-inches. Press the short edges of the two smaller pieces to the flat center of the larger piece to make a three dimensional cross-shaped structure. Place the structure on a cookie sheet and bake it in the oven at 175 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. Cool for 20 minutes.

Stand the dollhouse frame up and slide the cross-shaped structure inside the dollhouse to create four rooms that are ready to decorate in the dollhouse.
