How to Make a LEGO War Machine From Iron Man

Warmachine is a character from the comic series "Iron Man." Because of his popularity, it is no surprise why some would want to make their own custom Lego War Machine figure. However, this can be a challenging task for beginners. The best way to create this character using Lego mini-figure parts is to break down the building process, allowing an individual to map War Machine's design accurately. With the proper steps in place, creating a Lego War Machine figure can be done with relative ease.

Instructions

  1. Design Your Lego War Machine

    • 1

Review a reference picture of War Machine. Make note of prominent costume features such as his eye color, weapon load out and armor.

    • 2

Draw the several basic outlines of a Lego mini-figure onto paper. Brainstorm different ways you can simplify War Machine's costume to fit the figure. Sketch basic costume designs onto the outlines until you create one you like.

    • 3

Write down any Lego parts you will need to create your outfit design, such as armor and guns. Take all the necessary parts you need from your Lego collection. You can order any Lego parts you don't have online. Make note of any parts that you may need to paint over such as the legs, body and face.

    Build Your Lego War Machine

    • 4

Paint the head, body and legs dark stone grey. Paint any body armor and weapons dark grey. Work slowly and use the least amount of paint possible. Let all the pieces dry for 30 minutes.

    • 5

Put the body together following your design. Layer the lighter colors of his armor using light grey and very light grey. Use black paint and a thin brush to create the outlines between different colored armor. Create the arc reactor and eyes using white paint outlined with red. Follow your design sketches as a guide whenever needed. Let the figure dry for 30 minutes.

    • 6

Paint other details onto the body such as joints and armor design. If your putting a body armor piece onto your mini-figure, paint the armor color scheme and details onto it as well. Let the mini-figure dry for 30 minutes.

    • 7

Place the small weapons into the hands. If you are adding War Machine's Gatling gun, attach it to his shoulder using modeling glue. Hold the gun in place until the glue is stable. Let the mini-figure sit for 30 minutes, allowing the glue to solidify. Paint on any other minor details to complete your Lego War Machine.
