Cool LEGO Ideas

Lego has endeared itself to children -- and adults -- right from the start since its introduction in 1949. Into the new millennium it continues to be a source of recreation and entertainment, often repackaged into the world of video games and cyber technology. Legos are relatively uncomplicated structures for kids, but allow an opportunity for creativity and complicated thinking. If you have Legos and you're looking for a cool idea to make, there's no shortage of challenges to take on.
  1. Lego Furniture

    • Furniture is a particular arduous task in the world of Lego-making, as it can be incredibly time-consuming; although this often works well for parents with children that have a bit too much time on their hands. Chairs, tables, benches -- if you have a piece of furniture and enough Legos, chances are you can make it, as long as you have enough Legos.

    Lego Accessories

    • You don't need a lot of Lego pieces to come up with cool and clever accessories. Just find pieces that already have holes in them, and with some twine or ribbon, create necklaces and bracelets. Both boys and girls can do this cool Lego activity. The girls can work on hair ties, earrings and bangles, while the boys can make belts, key chains and armbands.

    Lego Flags

    • Make Social Studies fun for your children and challenge them to create Lego flags as accurate as possible. It will be a true test of their resourcefulness to figure out how to include the intricate details. You can hold a little contest to see who can make the most number of flags or to see whose versions are closest to the real thing.

    Lego Medieval Machines

    • Create fully functional miniature medieval machines using Legos and some pieces of string and cloth. Look for medieval machine plans or instructional books and imitate it using Lego bricks, gears and wheels. One of the cool things to try is a Lego trebuchet and catapult. All you need are some strings and Legos and you are good to go. Be careful when testing out these machines, though because they can actually work and might hurt someone if you're not careful.
