Directions for a LEGO Helicopter

The Lego helicopter can be created from kit 1246 or from loose blocks from your own collection. Although the directions may sound a bit complicated at first glance, making this helicopter is not really too difficult if you take it step-by-step. If you get stuck, just ask your resident Lego expert, who is likely a 10-to-12-year-old boy, what to do next. He will probably be able to build it without even looking at the directions!

Instructions

    • 1

Place two thin 1-stud by 6-stud black blocks parallel to one another. Attach a gray 1-stud by 4-stud block perpendicular to the black blocks. The outermost holes on each end of the gray block should be placed on top of the last holes on the left-hand side of the black blocks. Skip 2 studs on the black blocks and attach another gray 1-stud by 4-stud block onto the fourth stud of each black block. This gray block should be perpedicular to the black blocks like the first one you attached.

    • 2

Attach a 2-stud by 6-stud black block across (perpendicular to) the gray blocks. The right end of the black block goes on top of the two center studs of the right-hand gray block. Once this is in position, press the other end of the black block onto the left gray block.

    • 3

Locate the Z-shaped white piece with the helicopter nose. Line up the nose of the block on top of the 2-stud by 6-stud black block and attach.

    • 4

Snap the tail piece block onto last two end studs of another 2-stud by 6-stud black block. Attach the other end of this black block to the top of the white Z-shaped block. This part of the white block has 6 studs. The end of the black block should line up with the end of this white 6-stud section. Snap the red block with the helicopter controls into the space in the nose piece.

    • 5

Attach the windshield to the second set of studs on the nose piece, just in front of the red helicopter controls. Pop 2 round blue blocks onto the ends of the helicopter blade attachment. This piece has two studs with round parts on either end. Snap this piece onto the right-hand side of the black 2-stud by 6-stud block that is attached to the white block.

    • 6

Press the gray block with 1 stud onto the 4-stud gray block. This is the gray block with the 2 round blue parts. Place the small black helicopter rotor onto the 1-stud gray block. Attach one white 1-stud by 6-stud block onto one black helicopter rotor. Attach another white block on the opposite black rotor.

    • 7

Put the blue visor onto the helmet, the helmet onto the head and body. Attach the body to the legs. Place the helicopter pilot into the seat in the helicopter.
