How to Create a LEGO Guy

Lego toy building blocks originated in 1932 in Denmark, where Ole Kirk Christansen founded a toy company that made the blocks from wood. The company got its name through an employee competition. Christiansen began building the blocks out of plastic after 15 years in business. Lego is one of the most popular toys for children --- and the young at heart --- with thousands of themed sets. The pieces to form a Lego man come in almost every set.

  Assemble all the pieces needed to make your Lego man. If you are not sure what pieces are required, check the instructions with your set or look at the picture on the box.

  Insert the two pegs of the man's legs into the bottom of the torso. Make sure the logo on the torso is facing in the same direction as the man's feet.

  Push the head onto the plastic post at the top of the torso. The head should be facing forward, so you can see the man's features.

  Add a hat or hair onto the peg on top of the man's head. Most Lego characters come with a hairpiece, hat or other accessory to cover the head peg.

  Snap any handheld accessories, such as a sword or staff, into the man's "C" shaped hands, which are attached to the arms.
