Uses of Buckyballs

Buckyballs are small metallic balls made of Neodymium, considered one of 17 "rare Earth metals" on the periodic table. Buckyballs are small in diameter (about the size of a pea) and extremely magnetic. They come in a box of 216, 6 inches by 6 inches, and can be configured together to make all kinds of shapes in various sizes.
  1. Art

    • Buckyballs can be used to create sculptures and two-dimensional shapes of any design. Although packages of Buckyballs are confined to 6 x 6 inches, additional packages could be used to create larger art pieces. The metallic charge of the Buckyballs makes for an easily changeable and malleable material for artists, similar to clay, but does not require baking or drying to solidify

    Stress Relief

    • Buckyballs are sold and marketed to office professionals as a "stress reliever" similar to a foam stress ball or other forms of desk novelties. The idea is to distract office workers from an often repetitive or high-stress work environment, by allowing a person to do something artistic and fun for a few moments during the work day.

    Status

    • Buckyballs can be used as a sign of status as well. Specialty packages are available plated in real gold, silver and rare black nickel. Although the inside of all Buckyballs are made of Neodymium, the special plated editions provide an extra bit of extravagant decor to impress visitors to one's office space.

    Jewelry &Gifts

    • Buckyballs can be made into many different types of jewelry. The marketing department at Buckyballs puts an emphasis on selling its product as a gift for others, office workers and non-office workers alike. Buckyballs can also appeal to artists and designers, as well as those interested in architecture and engineering.
