LEGO
LEGO sets can be built according to the instructions, or you can use the pieces to create your own designs. LEGO sets include different kinds of building bricks, including thin pieces to be used as bases and roofs and double-thick pieces that can be used as building blocks. The male end on the top of a LEGO block fits into the open female end at the base of the next block. Custom-shaped pieces are also designed for special projects such as pirate ships. LEGO sets often include people figures to be added to the objects and scenes. LEGO has even been used in the construction of theme parks such as "LEGOLand," which features LEGO models of different places from around the world.
Duplo
Duplo is an entry-level LEGO construction toy that is designed for children that are 1 1/2 to 6 years old. Duplo bricks are twice the length and size of normal LEGO bricks, and they're eight times the volume. The Duplo range has been offered since 1969 and includes sets with figures, cars, houses and trains.
Technic
Technic began its run as the "Expert Builder" range of LEGO toys. Technic sets require more advanced construction; extras such as gears, axles, pins and beams are included in Technic sets. Some Technic products also have pneumatic pieces. The size and design of Technic bricks are basically the same as ordinary LEGO pieces, but Technic bricks often have holes in them to allow axles and other connections to be made. You can make digger trucks, helicopters and hot-rod cars in Technic sets.
Product Association
LEGO produces a range of products in association with well-known movies and construction projects, including "Indiana Jones," "Harry Potter," "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Star Wars." Buildings such as the Empire State Building and the White House can also be constructed. LEGO products are also seen in video games where the characters are designed like "LEGO men." In these games, you must work your way through LEGO-designed scenes from the movies, such as the "Well of Souls" from "Raiders of the Lost Ark."
