Types of Bionicle

Bionicles are a part of the LEGO company. First introduced in 2001, the Bionicle building kits were a small part of the appeal. Other products, like movies and games, portrayed the rich Bionicle story line that LEGO created. New Bionicles continued to be released for a decade, until the company discontinued the product line in 2011.
  1. Toa

    • As the heroes of the Bionicle universe, LEGO has created several generations of Toa. Toas served the Great Spirit Mata Nui and defended the Matoran. They each had a special Great Kanohi Mask of Power. This mask enabled a Toa to control a single, elemental power. They came equipped with a tool or weapon that focused on that power. Some popular Toa were Toa Kopaka, Toa Inika Kongu and Toa Gali Nuva.

    Matoran

    • The Matoran were the villagers on the islands in the Bionicle universe. Smaller than the Toa, the Matoran were the builders of the great Bionicle cities. Some Matoran evolved into Toa and went on to become heroes. Famous Matoran included Jaller, Takua and Onepu.

    Turaga

    • The Turaga were the wise elders in the Bionicle universe. Toa became Turaga when they fulfilled their destiny and sacrificed their Toa power. The Turaga were the leaders of the Matoran and the keepers of the legends of the Toa. A Turaga could not use Toa power and was no longer able to use Great Masks of Power. However, Turaga did have limited elemental abilities. Famous Turaga included Matau, Nokama and Vakama.

    Rahkshi

    • The evil being Makuta created the Rahkshi to be powerful and destructive. Each Rahkshi wore armor that contained a kraata, which was a worm-like creature that controlled the Rahkshi. The Rahkshi were unable to move without a kraata. Makuta released six powerful Rahkshi against the Toa Nuva during their search for the Toa of Light. The Toa were able to defeat the Rahkshi. The Rahkshi included Lerahk, Panrahk and Turahk.

    Piraka

    • Another group of evil Bionicles were the Piraka, which consisted of six ex-Dark Hunters. Even though they were enemies to Makuta, the Dark Hunters were not good Bionicles. The six Piraka wanted to steal the Kanohi Ignika, a legendary mask. Infamous Piraka included Hakann, Zaktan and Vezok.

    Bohrok

    • The Bohrok were insect-like creatures. They each contained a krana, a type of disk that provided additional power and directions. The krana were connected to and controlled by the Bahrag. The Bohrok lived in nests below Mata Nui and swarmed out to terrorize the Matoran. Types of Bohrok included Kohrak, Lehvak and Pahrak.

    Visorak

    • The Visorak were spider-like creatures who answered to Sidorak and Roodaka. The Visorak came equipped with pincers and Rhotuka spinners. The spinners were used to stun and paralyze opponents. After Sidorak was defeated, the Visorak served Makuta. The Visorak breeds included Vohtarak, Boggarak and Keelerak.
