Instructions for Imaginext

Fisher Price makes a series of playsets called Imaginext. These toys are for children between 3 and 8 years old. The toys are combination playsets and building blocks. The Imaginext playsets have themes such as dinosaurs and Batman. Some of the toys use AAA batteries; the T-rex in the dinsoaur set "burps" when activated and the King King dances and sings. Imaginext playsets are made to develop children's color concepts, spatial orientation and building imaginations.

  Spread out the pieces of any Imaginext playset with your child helping. Look for the toys that require the AAA batteries. For example, in the T-rex Imaginext playset, the T-rex has a battery panel that needs three AAA batteries installed to get the dinosaur roaring and burping. Have the child assist with the installation. Show the child how to flip the power switch for the battery operated Imaginext toys.

  Show the child how the bricks and pieces fit together via the knobs and holes. Show him the underside of the bricks and playset pieces so he sees the little holes that snap onto the knobs on baseplates and piece-tops. Push some pieces together and encourage the child to try.

  Illustrate how all of the Imaginext play toys and bricks go with each other. Imaginext toys fit all other Imaginext toys. Show the child the value of experimenting and mixing the various playsets. For example, show her how Batman can play-fight with the dinosaur sets.

  Show the child how the toy set little people have pieces that mix and match. For example, the hair piece of a caveman in a dinosaur set fits on the Batman head and vice versa. Let the child use his imagination to enjoy the Imaginext series of toys.
