Winnie the Pooh Duplo Treehouse Instructions

Whether you have misplaced directions to an old favorite toy or you are constructing the Duplo Winnie the Pooh "Tigger's Treehouse" for the first time, children will enjoy building an area for Winnie the Pooh and Tigger to play in. Building the perch for the figurines will be cognitively stimulating as children learn to follow steps and manipulate blocks, and it is an opportunity to teach teamwork and creativity, as well.

Instructions

    • 1

Inventory your pieces to ensure you have the necessary blocks. Though basic blocks may be substituted, check for the mini figures of Pooh and Tigger as well as for the specialty blocks: the tree trunk segment base, the bridge log and the shingled roof piece. Additional specialty pieces include a flexible vine, flowers and a party sign. Make sure you have plenty of 2-by-2, 2-by-4 and 2-by-8 blocks.

    • 2

Place the tree trunk on two bricks (use green or green and yellow for a "natural" look). To begin the base of the tree house on top of the trunk, layer blocks one or two layers high in alternating colors. Make sure one of the base blocks has a hinge on the side facing the front. To form the base of the house, place a 2-by-8 block crossways on top of the layers, above the trunk, where a figurine could be placed.

    • 3

Place several layers of 2-by-2 blocks on each end of the long crossways piece to form the two side frames of the tree house, creating pillars at each end with an empty space in the middle of the long crossways block. Use a 2-by-4 piece on the top layer, placed perpendicular to the long crossways block that functions as the base of the house, so that one exposed end can be used to anchor the vine later.

    • 4

Add the rooftop piece after you have built a total of seven or eight layers of blocks high from tree trunk base. Bend the flexible leafed vine across the front of the tree house, so that it arches along the side frames and above the opening. Connect the ends to the protruding 2-by-4 perpendicular pieces.

    • 5

Attach the bridge to the hinged block. Build a simple staircase about five blocks high, using a hinged block on top. Attach the bridge to the staircase block. Place the sign, flower and figurines creatively around the completed tree house.
