Instructions
Build a log-shaped car. Place a row or two rows of seats in the vehicle, and build a wall at least two bricks tall above the base. Attach a set of rounded foot plates or a pair of wheels to the bottom of the ride.
Build the tallest point of your ride, a mountain or a scaffold to hold up the track. Many log flumes are decorated to look like logging camps or mountain waterfalls, but they are effectively roller coasters and can be decorated however you would like to decorate them.
Assemble a track wide enough for your vehicle. You need to build walls on each side as well as the base. Cover the top and walls in flat plates to make them smooth and prevent the log from becoming trapped on something. Make the track long enough to reach from the bottom of the mountain or scaffold up to the top.
Hold the track against the mountain. Determine three to five points where the track should be supported. Build up stacks of 2-by-1-stud bricks to form support beams. Place 2-by-1 hinges on the tops of these, so that the hinge faces toward the bottom of the ride.
Attach the track to the top-most support beam. Tilt the track down toward the bottom of the mountain and attach it to the other support beams.
Test your car by placing it at the top of the track and letting it slide to the bottom.
Build a curved section of track. Make sure the car will fit around this curve. Again, use pieces to make two walls and a flat plates to make the base. Make a second curve.
Attach the first curve to the top of the mountain so it meets the chute at the top.
Build a scaffold and a second chute similar to the first. Make this chute one you can bring the cart up on. Attach it to the model.
Build a scaffold to hold the second curve. Make more track to join the two curves.
Build a wall around the bottom of the log ride, which will catch the cart when it reaches the bottom of the ride.
Load the cart with a number of LEGO minifigures and take it on a run around the log ride.
