How to Build a LEGO Police Station

In most LEGO cities, one important building is responsible for keeping its citizens safe at night and is nearly a must-have in any miniaturized society. That is the LEGO police station and its staff of tiny police officers. You can build one of these buildings in a number of ways, and anything with white-and-black bricks will make it close to a real police station. At least one Police Station set is made by LEGO, number 7237 in its numbering system.

Instructions

    • 1

Orient the base plate so the wide mouth of the driveway points toward you. Place a 1-by-1-stud tall brick (as tall as four standard bricks) six studs down from the top next to the left side of the driveway. Place a stack of two 2-by-2 blue bricks four studs to the left and four studs down. Install a 2-by-1 tall brick four studs over and two studs above. The back of this brick should line up with the previous tall brick.

    • 2

Move five studs over from the second tall brick and attach a 2-by-2 pivot plate down. Move two studs from that and attach another 1-by-1 tall brick. Place a third tall brick five studs below that. Place a 2-by-1-stud blue brick up and over one stud. The corner of the blue brick should touch the tall brick. Place a second blue brick three studs over. The two blue bricks should appear to create a channel around the pivot plate.

    • 3

Make a computer desk using a 2-by-4-stud blue plate. Attach the 2-by-1-stud keyboard plate, a 2-by-1-stud white plate and the 2-by-1-stud computer brick. Give the desk a mug, and place it on the two parallel blue bricks. Attach a blue seat to the pivot plate.

    • 4

Make a coffee maker. Take a 2-by-1-stud plate and stack a 1-by-1-stud plate, a 1-by-1 transparent brick and a 2-by-1 vent plate. Place the transparent mug piece on the coffee maker on the empty stud. Attach this to the 2-by-2 stack.

    • 5

Place another 2-by-1 tall brick three studs below the first. Add another one five studs below that. Install the door between these two pieces. Place a third one nine studs to the left, so it lines up with the two 1-by-1 bricks above it. These make the support beams for the first floor.

    • 6

Place a 1-by-1 brick on the top-left support beam. Place a 3-by-1 double upward-angled brick on the left-middle beam, and the 2-by-1 on the left and the neighboring 2-by-1 beam. Attach a 10-by-1-stud beam across the door and the middle support beam. Attach a 1-by-1 next to that. Place a 6-by-1 across the right beams, with a 1-by-1 brick stacked beneath a 1-by-1 plate in front.

    • 7

Install pairs of windows between the lowest sets of beams on this floor. This forms the front of the ground floor of your police station.

    • 8

Place a 6-by-10-stud plate across the tops of both sets of windows to create the second floor of the building. On the back of the right set of beams, attach a 1-by-6-stud plate.

    • 9

Make an arch using a pair of 2-by-1 bricks stacked on top of two 2-by-1-stud tall bricks. Cross the top of the arch with a 1-by-8-stud brick and attach this to the right side of the driveway so that it lines up with the back of the station.

    • 10

Stack two 1-by-1-stud plates atop each other on the top-right corner of the first floor. Build the flat hinge, and place two 1-by-1 yellow plates beneath the gray side. Stack a 2-by-1-stud white plate on top of the white side and place this lamp on the bottom-left corner of the building.

    • 11

Place a 3-by-1-stud brick on the top-right corner and a 2-by-1 brick in front, with a 2-by-1 angled brick in front of that. Stack a second 2-by-1 and a 4-by-1-stud brick on top of that to continue the angle. On the right side of this gap, place a 4-by-1 and a 3-by-1 brick. Place a 1-by-1 tall brick at the back of the building and a 1-by-4-stud brick in front of that.

    • 12

Cover the driveway with a 6-by-10-stud plate, and place 1-by-1-stud plates at the front corners of the building. Place a 2-by-2 pivot plate next to the 1-by-1 tall brick.

    • 13

Place a third angled brick on the right side, and a 2-by-2 upward-angled brick behind that. Attach a 2-by-2 upward-angled brick next to the tall brick opposite, with a 1-by-2-stud brick beside that.

    • 14

Affix the map decal to the inside of a vertical plate piece. Place it next to the tall brick. It should match the height of the neighboring brick.

    • 15

Place the slanted windows between the right wall and the middle wall. Attach a 1-by-4-stud plate on the right wall, and cover the top of the windows with a 4-by-8-stud plate.

    • 16

Attach another seat to the pivot plate, and make another desk one stud away, toward the driveway. Use two parallel 2-by-1-stud bricks, a 1-by-4-stud plate and an angled computer brick (2-by-2).

    • 17

Place another set of windows next to the desk and computer. Attach a 2-by-1-stud tall brick next to the windows, and place a 1-by-1 brick on the back corner of this plate. Install a door between these tall bricks.

    • 18

Build a barrier around the driveway canopy. Use a long black piece of fencing on the front. Stack a 2-by-1 angled brick atop a 2-by-1 brick. Make two units and place these at the front and rear corners of the side. Place a piece of short fencing between them.

    • 19

Attach a 6-by-10-stud plate on top of the building. Place a 6-by-1 brick on either side of the buildings. Stack 2-by-1 plates with vertical bars on top of 2-by-1 upward-angled bricks, and place them on the front of the building so they continue the 6-by-1 bricks.

    • 20

Make a row of black 2-by-2 upward-angled bricks on the front of the building. Place one blue 2-by-2 plate in the bottom-left corner of the roof. Put a safe on top of that. Place a 2-by-1-stud brick one stud behind the third 2-by-2 from the left. Put a 2-by-1 hinge brick on top of this and the 4-by-1 vertical plate clip on that. Attach three flat graphic plates to make a console.

    • 21

Attach a 2-by-1 brick to the back-left corner. Place a 3-by-1 in front of that, a 2-by-2 L-shaped brick and a 1-by-1 stud brick. Place an angled brick and a 1-by-6 behind it on top of these bricks. Continue that upward angle with another 1-by-2 brick, and then a 3-by-1 and a 2-by-1. Repeat on the other side.

    • 22

Stack two more upward-angled bricks on the front of the building. On the left, place a 1-by-1 and a 2-by-2 upward-angled brick. Stack a 1-by-1 atop a 1-by-1 clip plate and a 1-by-1 plate, and put this unit on the back. Stack two 1-by-1 plates on top of a three-way loudspeaker and place this behind the angled brick, with a 2-by-2 on the inside. Put a 1-by-1 brick on the back of this. Cover the tops on both sides with 3-by-1 and 2-by-1 plates.

    • 23

Place angled windows between the two angled walls. Put a 4-by-8-stud plate on top of these windows. Make a radar dish on top of the roof, using a 2-by-2 pivot plate, a 2-by-1 plate with a single stud atop it and an upward clip as the base. Place the 4-by-1 radar plate on a 2-by-1 plate with a side handle, and clip this to the roof.

    • 24

Clip a red antenna to the clip on the left side of the building. Make a small radar dish using a blue reflector dish and a 1-by-1 blue clip plate. Make a video camera using the camera piece, a tape plate and a black 1-by-1 upward-angled plate on the side. Clip this to the right-front corner of the building.
