How to Make a LEGO Challenge Trophy

A challenge trophy is awarded to a person who has succeeded at something or a person you want to celebrate. They're often made of metal or plastic, but you can make one out of LEGO bricks. A challenge trophy is a simple project that results in a great reward-style cup on a stable pedestal. This will look great on anyone's mantel, and it has a fairly sophisticated look despite being made of LEGOs.

Things You'll Need

  • White LEGO bricks
  • Yellow LEGO bricks

Instructions

    • 1

Place eight white 2-by-4-stud bricks in a square shape.

    • 2

Place a white 3-by-1-stud brick at the top-right corner, so that it extends across the gaps between the bricks below. Repeat on the other three corners.

    • 3

Place a white 3-by-2-stud brick between the two white 3-by-1 bricks so it spans the gap between the bricks below. Repeat on the other side. Finish this row with a white 2-by-2-stud brick.

    • 4

Fill in the rest of this level of the base with white 3-by-2-stud bricks.

    • 5

Arrange eight more white 2-by-4-stud bricks on top of the base in the same square pattern as below. The base should now be a sturdy block.

    • 6

Place two yellow 2-by-3-stud bricks next to each other in the center of the base. They should form a six-stud row. Place two yellow 4-by-1-stud bricks on either side of that and a yellow 2-by-1-stud brick on either side of those. This creates a sort of circular base for the cup.

    • 7

Put two yellow 2-by-2 stud bricks on the next row of the base. Place two yellow 2-by-1-stud bricks on either side. Place these bricks so they create a plus-shape on the center of the cup.

    • 8

Stack two yellow 2-by-2-stud bricks on top of each other and place them in the center of the row.

    • 9

Place a yellow 2-by-1 brick on both sides of a yellow 2-by-4 brick. This creates another plus shape.

    • 10

Cover the gap between the 2-by-1 brick and the 2-by-4 brick with a yellow 3-by-2. Repeat on the other side. Place yellow 4-by-1-stud bricks on either side of these.

    • 11

Put four yellow 2-by-3 bricks on top of this row. They should stick over the front of the model. Attach a yellow 2-by-1-stud brick under this overhang. Repeat on the back. Place two yellow 1-by-4-stud bricks on the sides, where the bricks stick out from beneath.

    • 12

Place four yellow 2-by-3-stud bricks on the top row, so they create a ring with a 2-by-2-stud hole in the center. Fill in the corners with a yellow 2-by-1-stud brick and a yellow 1-by-1-stud brick to extend the curve.

    • 13

Put four yellow 2-by-1-stud bricks at the ends of the 3-by-2 bricks on the row below. On the left and right sides, place two yellow 1-by-3-stud bricks just inside of the 2-by-1 pieces. They should overhang the row below. Place two yellow 2-by-1-stud bricks on the front and back to complete the square shape.

    • 14

Place a ring made of four yellow 2-by-4-stud bricks on top of the 2-by-1 pieces on the row below. Place yellow 1-by-1-stud bricks between these pieces on the corner.

    • 15

Place yellow 1-by-4-stud bricks on the outer edges on the row below. Place yellow 1-by-1 and yellow 1-by-2-stud bricks on the corners between to make a complete ring. You should have what looks like a rounded cup.

    • 16

Attach the cup to the center of the stand below.
