Building Instructions for the LEGO X-Wing

The LEGO building toys include a number of sets based on vehicles, characters and locations from the expansive "Star Wars" universe. The X-Wing is one of the most recognizable vehicles from that film, with S-foils (wings) which move from a flat "cruise" position to the threatening "Attack" position, in an X-shape. This is where the vehicle gets its name. You can build your own LEGO X-wing miniature out of a handful of pieces.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a white 2-stud by 1-stud plate end-to-end with a tan 3-by-1-stud plate. This is the base of the fuselage of the X-wing.

    • 2

Place a red 4-by-1-stud plate over the gap between the two plates. Attach a second white 2-by-1-stud plate to the front of this, to form the nose cone for the spacecraft.

    • 3

Place a white 4-by-1-stud plate covering the nose and the red plate. There should be a spare stud on either side of the plate.

    • 4

Build the base of the wing attachment by placing two tan 2-by-1 handle plates back to back, then joining them with a red 2-by-1-stud plate with a single top-stud, and a white 2-by-1-stud plate.

    • 5

Line up the single stud on the body with the red stud on the fuselage. Join the two using a white 2-by-1 vent piece.

    • 6

Attach a gray 2-by-1-stud plate to the back of the star craft. Then attach two more tan 2-by-1-stud handle plates to the gray piece. These should be above the lower pair of handle plates.

    • 7

Cover the end of the vent with a clear 2-by-1 piece. This is the cockpit.

    • 8

Attach the four engine pieces, which are white Technic connectors, to the ends of the handle pieces--two on each side. Attach the fronts of the engine pieces to the front, these are white, round 1-by-1-stud bricks.

    • 9

Place a white vent piece at the front, and a white 2-by-1 single-stud plate on the body of the vehicle. The vent goes behind the cockpit, and the single-stud is where R2-D2 (a single grey stud) sits on the back of the craft.

    • 10

Build four wings. Attach two 1-by-1-stud hook plates to the underside of a flat 2-by-1 plate. Connect these to the handle plates on the body. Place rods in the end hooks on each wing.
