How to Build Axonn

The character Axonn, from the Bionicle universe, is one of the more powerful being in the Lego system he is a part of. Using his mask of truth and protosteel ax, he has survived a great many battles and cataclysms which have occurred throughout the history of Mata Nui, his homeland. The mask of truth, Rode, enables him to see through any deception, whether it is in speech or in appearance, even seeing invisible beings or through disguises.

Instructions

  1. Head and Torso

    • 1

Attach the hip joint to a back plate using a pair of black pins. The hip joint has two ball joints and a gear-toothed bottom piece. The back plate is red and roughly triangular.

    • 2

Push a 3-stud rod into the end of a perpendicular rod connector, and insert that into the shoulder of the backplate. Place a second perpendicular rod connector on the back of the rod. The front rod connector should be horizontal, and the rear should point upward. Repeat with the other shoulder.

    • 3

Place two tear-drop shaped plates onto a 4-stud rod, then connect two 2-hole thin bar to the top of the tear-drop. Place a 3-stud rod into that, and a ball joint socket. This becomes the neck.

    • 4

Attach the neck piece, socket up, to the back plate using a blue pin and the two rods.

    • 5

Hold the neck in place with a 4-hole thin rod on the back. Place a bendable pipe between the two rear rod connectors. They will form an arc on the back.

    • 6

Attach the face to the ball joint, and pin the skull in place with a 2-stud rod. Attach the chest plate and shoulder plates to the front of the model. Place the mask on the face.

    Legs

    • 7

Thread a 2-hole rod connector, a ball-joint socket, then a second of each onto a 4-stud rod. This forms the heel.

    • 8

Attach a 13-hole bar to the heel using two black double-pins.

    • 9

Attach a foot plate to the inside of this piece using a 3-stud rod, a black 3-hole bar and a quad-connector. Attach black spikes to the outside of the foot.

    • 10

Sandwich this between a second 3-hole bar. Place another spike on the other side of the foot.

    • 11

Click a red double-ball joint piece to the first joint socket. Attach two white tri-pieces to the ankles using blue connector pins.

    • 12

Push a ball joint straight socket into the end of a 4-stud rod. Attach a red shin piece to the front of this, a white shin piece to the side, and then a second straight-socket to the top.

    • 13

Connect the back of the socket pieces using a 5-hole bar. Click this into the top of the leg socket.

    • 14

Build one of the leg pistons. Thread a loose ball joint onto a black piston bar, two white spacers, and then the piston socket. Click the ball into the rear socket, and attach the top to the back bar with a blue pin.

    • 15

Make a second, mirror imaged leg. Attach these to the bottom of Axonn's torso.

    Arms and Ax

    • 16

Plug two gray, stud-ended rods into the second and fourth hole of a 5-hole half-bar.

    • 17

Attach two joint sockets to each of the rods.

    • 18

Place a black double-connector pin to the center hole of a foot plate. Slide this onto the gray rods so that the pin pushes through the center hole of the bar. Keep the plate in place with two 3-hole thin bars.

    • 19

Clip the white arm accents to the bottom and the top of this arm piece. Click a red double-ball limb piece to the front of the arm.

    • 20

Thread a socket and a 2-hole thin bar onto a 4-stud rod. Insert a 3-stud rod into the bar. The bar should point 90 degrees away from the socket.

    • 21

Thread a second socket facing the same direction to the 4-stud rod. Place a socket on the 3-stud rod facing the other direction. Attach this "rear" socket to the arm.

    • 22

Place another 2-hole bar on the rods.

    • 23

Place two more sockets onto the hand. A third facing the same direction as the other two sockets, and the fourth pointing away from both sets.

    • 24

Click four 90-degree ball-joint connectors into the remaining open sockets. The piece will look like a hand.

    • 25

Build a second arm using the same procedure, but mirrored to create a right and left arm. Attach both to the torso.

    • 26

Slide the trident head into a white rod extender. Make two of these pieces.

    • 27

Push a rod-ended connector onto a 12-stud rod. Attach the two trident heads to either end of this rod.

    • 28

Push a double-connector pin through one of the trident heads. Attach both of the axe head pieces in opposite directions to this trident head.

    • 29

Attach the axe to the thumb socket of one of the hands using the rod-ended connector. Pose your model, and Axonn is complete.
