LEGO Building Instructions for Toa Vakama

Toa Vakama, a character in LEGO's Bionicle series, is the transformed version of a "Matoran," villager, of the same name. Vakama was once the finest mask-maker anywhere. In his Toa form, Vakama became a fierce warrior with the fate of his homeworld in his hands, and the Kanoka disks he holds are the key. He can't save the world when he's in pieces, but if you've lost your instructions, you can still put the heroic Toa back together.

Instructions

  1. Torso

    • 1

Place a gear in the back of the torso piece. The torso is a large, red piece shaped roughly like a chest.

    • 2

Push a gray rod with a stopper through the gear, with the stopper inside the chest. Attach a thick gray connector piece to the back of the rod.

    • 3

Stick a black double-connector with end stoppers through the top of the chest cavity, with the knob on the back. Repeat with another knob connector.

    • 4

Insert two gears on the sides of the cavity, so they mesh with the rear gear.

    • 5

Attach the front plate of the chest to the black connectors, covering up the gears.

    • 6

Slide the hip piece into the bottom of the torso. The hip piece has two joint-knobs on the bottom, and three holes along the top. Attach the hip into the torso by sliding in two gray connector rods.

    • 7

Attach two blue connectors to the rear-mounted stoppers.

    • 8

Insert a two-stud connector into the top of the torso, and place a joint connector onto that rod, making the neck joint.

    • 9

Attach the transparent face piece to the back of the head piece, then click the ball into the neck joint.

    • 10

Attach Vakama's mask to the front of the face.

    Legs

    • 11

Attach a joint connector to the top of a foot piece.

    • 12

Click a red leg piece to the top, with the wider point toward the base of the foot.

    • 13

Attach a double-joint connector to the top of the leg piece.

    • 14

Insert a black connector between the two joint pieces, and connect the thigh guard to this rod. The thigh guard is a red rectangle that wraps partially around the leg.

    • 15

Repeat the process to make a second leg, then attach both legs to the torso at the bottom.

    Arms

    • 16

Slide the end of a four-stud connector into a double-joint connector. Slide a thick gray stopper onto the rod, pushing it to the joint piece.

    • 17

Click a red arm piece, which has two ball joints, into the bottom of the joint piece.

    • 18

Attach a second joint piece to the bottom of the arm. Insert a blue connector into the end of the joint.

    • 19

Repeat to make a second arm. Place both arms through the chest piece, into the gears you placed earlier.

    • 20

Attach the Kanoka Disk launcher to one of the hands. When not in use, you can attach it to the two blue connectors on Vakama's back.
