How to Make Bionicle Creations

Lego first created the Bionicle line in 2001. Unlike other Lego building sets which are primarily comprised of brick-like pieces, Bionicle sets feature a wide assortment of oddly shaped pieces that are used to construct articulated figures and machines. Each individual Bionicle set is designed to construct a single figure; however, separate parts sets are available so that Bionicle builders can make their own Bionicle creations.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a Bionicle set or parts tub. You can buy Bionicle sets from the same retailers that sell regular Lego kits or from online stores. Sets are also available directly from Lego's website.

    • 2

Design your Bionicle creation. Bionicles are divided into different categories, including heroes, villains, creatures and vehicles. The different parts all fit together using ball joints so pieces from different Bionicle sets will fit together. If you're creating a very elaborate or detailed Bionicle, draw it out on paper first so that you can refer to it during the construction phase.

    • 3

Construct the basic skeleton of your creation. If your figure is going to have a humanoid appearance, it will need a body, head, arms and legs, but the exact configuration is optional. Mix pieces together from different sets to give your creation the proportions you want.

    • 4

Build up your creation with different embellishment and armor components. Within the Bionicle universe, these creations are meant to do battle with one another, so your figure will need battle armor. Helmets are a key feature for every Bionicle and you can also build up the chest and shoulders of your creation to give it better protection.

    • 5

Articulate your Bionicle creation to ensure that all the pieces remain fitted together while it's in motion. Components that seemed like a good idea during the design phase may hinder movement once your creation is entirely put together. You may need to replace certain pieces at this stage to have a fully functioning Bionicle.

Give your Bionicle weapons so that it can go into battle. Every set comes with a weapon of some sort --- usually a sword or staff --- that your Bionicle can use to defend itself. If it's possible, you can also give it a shield for defense. Once your Bionicle is entirely put together and armored, send it into battle against an opponent.
