How to Make a LEGO Toad

LEGOs have always been a popular activity. Although LEGO kits are available to create almost anything, they can be expensive. This process outlines an inexpensive and easy way to make a simple LEGO toad. Using approximately 19 LEGO pieces, you can build a small frog with moveable legs. Although it is not essential, using all green (or different shades of green) pieces will create the appearance of a more realistic toad or frog.

Things You'll Need

  • Moveable hinge piece (2)
  • Single studs (4)
  • 1-by-4 piece (2)
  • Half pyramid piece (2)
  • 1-by-2 piece (4)
  • 2-by-3 piece
  • 2-by-2 piece (3)
  • 2-by-2 shallow pyramid piece.

Instructions

    • 1

Use two moveable hinge pieces that are each 1-by-4 when fully extended; these will be the back legs. Place a single stud on the top middle-left notch of one hinge piece, and another single stud on the top middle-right notch of the opposite hinge piece.

    • 2

Take a 1-by-4 LEGO piece and attach both legs on opposite sides with the studs facing out.

    • 3

Use two half pyramid pieces and connect to the studs on each leg and the 1-by-4 piece.

    • 4

Place a 1-by-2 piece between the two pyramid pieces on the 1-by-4 piece.

    • 5

Turn this over and place the 2-by-3 piece on the underside of the 1-by-4 piece. The 2-by-3 will be the base of the toad's body.

    • 6

Place 1-by-2 piece on the middle of the 2-by-3 piece.

    • 7

Clip the 1-by-4 piece horizontally across the front, top edge of the 2-by-3.

    • 8

Take two 1-by-2 pieces and clip on opposite sides of the front 1-by-4 piece. Face these pieces forward as they will be the front feet.

    • 9

Clip another 2-by-2 piece on the front of the 2-by-3 piece and place the shallow 2-by-2 pyramid piece over this piece. This will act as the toad's back.

    • 10

Use the final 2-by-2 piece, facing forward, on the outer-front edge of the 2-by-3 piece. This is the head.

    • 11

Clip the two stud pieces on to the front of the head to serve as the eyes.
