How to Construct a Cardboard Chair

A cardboard chair, worthy of the finest dollhouse drawing room, can be made from a small gift box and some easy-to-find supplies. Don't scrimp on design elements or details. The small scale of the chair means an elaborate treatment with scaled-down patterns and trims are possible. Looking through decorating magazines will give the chair designer lots of ideas for luxurious fabric choices, which are often available as remnants in the upholstery sections of a fabric store.

    • 3

Use the flat section of the box top for the chair's back. Attach it to the base with the masking tape.

Tape two side sections of the box top to the back of the base to create the chair's arms.

    • 5

Glue cotton balls to all areas of the chair that will be upholstered.

    • 6

Cut the fabric to fit the seat, back and arms. Attach the fabric with the glue.
