Tissue Cozy
Because LEGOs are bricks, building block shapes with straight lines and edges is the easiest project to take on. This makes building square or rectangular shapes a breeze. Use LEGO bricks to build four side walls that are sized to fit over a tissue box. Once these are connected to form a parameter around the box, an additional LEGO platform can be made to secure to the top. Leave an opening to pull the tissue through.
This project is that it is great for children, because it requires no special skills or advanced engineering knowledge. All that is required is to pick the block colors and to snap the pieces together.
Desk Organizer
LEGO building blocks are perfectly suited for making box shapes, including a flat tray that has slightly raised edges. This gives you a perfect organizer for desks or dressers. Use the LEGO blocks to build a flat surface for the bottom of the tray, then stack up a couple of extra blocks on top of the border pieces. Build internal walls within the tray to give the organizer different compartments to store items in.
LEGO Jump Drive
An ordinary USB memory stick can become a fun LEGO project that amaze and impress friends. Use an exacto knife to cut a LEGO block in half. Cut it so that the top can be lifted off of the block like a box, revealing the hollow interior. Cut off one of the end pieces to make room for the USB connector to protrude. For larger jump drives, use two blocks, then glue the halves together to create a longer LEGO.
Once the block has been cut to access the interior of the block, remove the exterior shell from the jump drive. Use the same exacto knife to slice through the plastic exterior of the jump drive. Once the outer shell has been removed, place the inside components in the LEGO block, put the top back on and glue it all together. The end result is a LEGO block with a USB jump drive port sticking out one end.
