How to Build a James Bond Gun Out of Legos

James Bond is one of the coolest characters to come to film and literature. He's a spy whose suave air and smooth moves get him through most missions with only minor scratches and bruises -- not to mention a bevy of sexy women. He is also synonymous with the Walther PPK, a gun he carries with him on almost every mission because its small size makes it easy to conceal. If you're trying to recreate some of his adventures with a LEGO gun, they're not too hard to build.

Instructions

    • 1

Look at stock images of the gun to give you a good idea of some of its characteristics. It has a slide, a magazine and a breach-loading port, as well as a characteristic pistol grip and trigger guard. To locate pictures, perform a Google Image Search (See information in Resources) or view the images listed under References to get a clearer picture.

    • 2

Select a number of black and grey LEGO pieces from your assortment.

    • 3
The magazine, or clip, is a piece that contains the bullets and often slides into the handle.

Build a magazine. Make a shaft, such as would contain bullets on a real gun, using some black bricks. Ideal dimensions are about two studs by six studs. Cover the top with mostly smooth plates, but attach some studded plates to keep the magazine in place. At the bottom of the mag, build a piece that curves away from the shooter.

The pistol grip is designed to fit into the hand comfortably.

Build the pistol grip around the magazine. Make the grip follow the contours of the hand, using your stock images as guides. At the top of the grip, the weapon should be about four studs wide by eight studs long. Leave a couple of pieces sticking out at the front-center, about two bricks down, to attach to the finger-guard.

    • 5

Build the barrel base across the top of the magazine and the grip. Begin by attaching two layers of bricks to make up the entire width and length of the barrel. About 20 studs long should do it.

    • 6

Attach the trigger and finger guard. Make the guard about two studs wide and attach it to the bricks sticking from the front of the grip.

    • 7

Attach the barrel and the slide mechanism to the top of the pistol. Start by attaching some bricks in the center of the barrel base to support these parts, but leave a void for the slide to lock onto. Next, make the slide mechanism about four studs wide at the largest part and smooth on the top. The barrel can be made out of rounded bricks, attached to any piece that will get them to stay sideways.

    • 8

Build the slide mechanism. Start at the top, using sloping bricks to make the curve at the top of the gun, then build walls down to cover the barrel and slide mechanism. Leave a breach on one side, and use two bricks with holes in them near the void you left in step 7. Build the sliding piece of the mechanism to fit into the channel formed on either side, using two layers of plates and smooth bricks.

Slide the slide onto the gun and lock it into place by sliding a Technic rod into the bricks with side-holes. Lock the rod into place with two washers. Test the slide.
