Things You'll Need
Instructions
First, you will need to decide how you are wishing to purchase your Lego toys. In person at the Lego Imagination Center offers the best discounts. The next discounted option, online, offers seasonal savings, so you must plan your purchases accordingly.
No matter which method you choose, be sure to sign up for the Lego catalog and Lego magazine, both of which are free and at times, contain coupon codes for either in-store or online purchases. Most of the time I have seen $5 off or else a code for a free gift, depending on offer. Offers do tend to change with the seasons, as the holidays tend to increase the amount of available coupon codes.
Next, if you would rather shop in person, make sure you get a Lego rewards card. It is a yellow card available at Lego Imagination Centers that is stamped every time $25 is spent. When a certain number of stamps are collected, gift certificates for $10 and up can be exchanged, depending on number of stamps on card.
If you are travelling to Disney World and plan on visiting the Lego Imagination Center at Downtown Disney, purchase a Birnbaum's Guide Book. They are relatively inexpensive and offer Disney discounts; with the 2008 edition offering a coupon for $10 off a $50 purchase at the Disney Lego Imagination Center. Additional discounts for Lego toys at Disney include an annual pass holder discount for 10% off your purchase. Be sure to check the discounts section of your annual pass for more details.
Finally, if you do not mind your boxes a little dented, both the Lego Imagination Centers and Lego online store offers a clearance section. This is how I purchase most of my Legos, as the boxes are dented, but the contents are untouched. Discounts range from 20-50% off, depending on items. Sometimes, items are in the clearance section because they are discontinued, so rest assured, you may even get lucky and not get a dented box. However, to me it does not matter, especially when I can combine the online coupons with the clearance sales, as I have done in the past.
