How to Make Barbie Doll Beds

The Barbie is an iconic doll that has found its way into the hearts of children all over the world. Along with the doll comes a never-ending assortment of clothing, accessories, vehicles, homes and furniture. Building an entire Barbie collection can be an expensive undertaking for a parent. If you are looking for a way to help your child enjoy her collection without spending much money, consider using some everyday props, along with a bit of imagination, to create a custom bed for Barbie.

Things You'll Need

Shoe box
Paint
Fabric
Glue

Instructions

  Lay a piece of newspaper on a flat surface. Remove the shoe box lid and set it aside. Place the shoe box on the newspaper with the open part facing down.

  Paint the box a color of your choosing and allow it to dry completely.

  Choose a piece of fabric to use as a covering for the shoe box. Wrap the fabric over the entire box, including the sides, and cut so that approximately 2 inches of fabric is hanging over the edge.

  Use a pair of scissors to cut a slit in the fabric from top to bottom at each corner of the box.

  Secure the fabric to the flat part of the box using glue. Fold the overhanging 2 inches inside the box and glue.

  Place Barbie onto the flat, covered part of the shoe box. Her bed is complete.
