How to Remove a Wig on a Sybarite

The Sybarite dolls were created by Charles Fegen and Desmond Lingard and in 2005 they released their first collector doll. These resin, ball jointed dolls represent current fashion, hair and makeup trends. These dolls are meant for adult collectors and are not aimed at the children's market. Some of the Sybarite dolls are made so you can change the wigs on them easily, thus changing up their style when you want to. Other dolls take a bit more coaxing to remove the wigs. Shop the Superfrock Ltd website for various wigs for your doll.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold your Sybarite doll in one hand. With your other hand, try to gently lift up on the wig. Some wigs are meant to come right off to be switched around and changed. If it does come off, simply lift it off and place it in a safe place and replace with a new wig, if desired. If it doesn't come off, move to the next step.

    • 2

Run the head of your Sybarite doll under warm water for a couple minutes. This will loosen the glue bond that is holding it in place.

    • 3

Try to lift the wig off again. Take your fingernail and gently pry between the dolls scalp and the wig to release the glue. Slowly peel it off, if you can. If it is still stuck, run it under the water for a few more minutes.

Look to see if the wig's glue has left a stain on the doll. This often happens with the glue resin. Use a slightly moistened cleaning eraser to remove the stain. Allow the head to dry.

Place a different wig on the doll, if desired. If you want a new wig to stay on but don't want to use glue, there are a few options. There are specially designed silicon wig caps that you can place on the doll to keep the wig in place, but still allow you to replace wigs whenever you want. You can also use double sided tape, moleskin, glue dots or small loop-and-hook pieces, although the loop-and-hook fastener runs the risk of snagging on the wig hairs.
