How to Remove a Musty Smell From a Barbie Doll

Little girls love to give their Barbie dolls baths, but leaving water trapped inside the doll can create a problem. If left in a warm environment, standing water is a breeding ground for mold that can produce a foul odor. To remove the musty smell from a Barbie doll, the water must be thoroughly drained from inside the doll and then the mold must be completely destroyed.

Instructions

    • 1

Drill a hole in the back of the head and the heel of each foot of the doll with an 1/8-inch drill bit. Shake as much water as possible from the doll through the holes.

    • 2

Mix 1 teaspoon chlorine bleach in 1 cup of water. Fill the doll with the bleach solution through the holes, with a marinade flavor injector. Shake the doll to ensure the solution is distributed throughout the inside of the doll. Allow the solution to stand in the doll for 15 minutes. Drain the bleach water, shaking the doll to remove as much of the solution as possible.

    • 3

Place the doll in a warm area. Shake the doll periodically until solution no longer comes out the holes. Allow the doll to dry for an additional 24 hours and then seal the holes with silicone caulking.
