How to Make a Bridal Veil for a Barbie Doll

It is easy to lose Barbie's tiny accessories. If your Barbie doll has a dress but no veil, or if you do not like the veil, you can make a new one. Dress Barbie in an elaborate paper dress for a wedding reception decoration. Add a bridal veil for the perfect finishing touch. You can also make a veil for the doll in the center of a fancy cake shaped like the doll's skirt.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a 6-inch square of tulle and a 3-inch square of tulle.

    • 2

Sew a line of 1/4-inch long stitches, all the way along one edge of each square, 1/4 inch from the edge. Pull the threads to gather the edge of the tulle until it is 1/2 inch long.

    • 3

Lay the small square on a table with the gathered edge on the left. Lay the large square on top of the small square with the gathered edge on the right so that it overlaps the first gathered edge. Sew the squares together by sewing along the lines of gathers, making a flat seam. A bit of the tulle will stick up on the top. You will cover it in the next step.

    • 4

Sew a small ribbon rose over the place where you joined the veils. Place it on the side with the small veil on top.

    • 5

Cut a 3/8-inch square of the hook side of a piece of hook-and-loop tape. Hot glue it to the bottom of the veil under the rose with the hook side down. The hook tape will hold the veil on the doll's head. The large veil hangs down in back. The smaller veil goes over the doll's face. It can be folded back over the rose.
