Make a miniature desk, or two, from a wooden wine presentation box. Wooden boxes made for showcasing a single bottle of wine have tiny mitered corners and smoothly finished edges. Cut off one end to make a miniature desk with an elegant, finished look. A single box is long enough to make a desk from each end, so you can add both a desk in your dollhouse's study and a stand for the sewing machine in a seamstress's room.

1
Slide the top off the box.

Measure 3 inches from one of the short ends of the box, and draw a pencil line 3 inches from this end on all three sides of the box. Use a ruler to ensure the line is straight.

Cut off the end of the box along the pencil line. A rotary tool will make the most even cut, but you may use a jigsaw or a table saw.

4
Sand the cut edge smooth with sandpaper.
