How to Make a Valentine Room for Your American Girl Doll

Cut two pieces of sturdy cardboard -- either from cereal boxes or large cardboard boxes -- that are slightly taller than your American Girl doll, about 19-20 inches high by 12-18 inches wide. These cardboard pieces will constitute the walls of your Valentine room.

Cut a strip of cardboard as long as the walls' height and about three inches wide. Crease the cardboard so there is a fold running down its center length. Adhere each wall of your Valentine room to each side of the strip of cardboard. The cardboard strip will function as a hinge to help keep your Valentine room upright.

Cut four additional strips of sturdy cardboard, the same length as the first strip and about four inches wide. Fold each strip of cardboard about six inches from one end. Adhere two strips to the middle of each outside wall of the room, sticking down the end farthest away from the fold with tape or glue. The folded "feet" of the strips will help keep the room upright.

Cut out Valentines from construction paper. Make sure to include lots of red and pink valentines, and mix up your color scheme with whites, purples and your other favorite colors, too.

Stick some Valentines to the inside walls of your Valentine room. You might also want to decorate the inside walls with signage that indicates the holiday, along with stickers, sequins, glitter or rhinestones. Use your imagination to make the Valentine room come to life.

Create an inbox for your doll's Valentines by cutting a piece of construction paper in half horizontally. Fold the cut piece of construction paper in half vertically, then make a one-inch fold on either side of the folded paper to create a pouch. Stick down the sides of the pouch with tape and stick the envelope to one of the walls in your Valentine room for your doll to collect her valentines.
