How to Keep Spun Yarn for Doll Hair From Unraveling

Spun yarn is useful as doll hair, when creating these homemade and endearing toys. Unraveling the spun yarn gives the doll the appearance of curly hair. On dolls whose hair you don't want to look curly, you can use a few tricks to keep the yarn from unraveling. These methods are useful when creating braids, bangs or other hairstyles.

Things You'll Need

Fabric glue
Wax paper
Embroidery floss
Scissors
Rubber band or ponytail holders (optional)

  Tie a simple knot in each end of the spun yarn, so it does not unravel.

  Cut the spun yarn to the length you desire for the doll hair, and dip one end into fabric glue. Lay the dipped yarn onto wax paper, to allow it to dry before continuing.

  Pick a shade of embroidery floss that matches the spun yarn color as closely as possible. Cut a short piece of the embroidery floss -- about 4 inches -- and tie it around the end of the yarn strand. Snip the ends of the embroidery floss close to the knot.
