Things You'll Need
Instructions
Cut both socks about two-thirds of the way from the top of the sock. Do this for both socks.
Turn the sock tubes you just cut inside-out. Take one of the tubes you cut and, with the cut end at the top, mark the sock into fourths. You can use pins to mark the points or a fabric marker.
Use your needle and thread to sew along the outer fourth of the sock tube, starting about an inch down and sewing all the way to the edge. You can also use a sewing machine if you have access to one.
Hold the sock tube you just sewed with the cut end at the top. Cut a curved hole on either side of the sock with the scissors, starting a little before than the line you've sewn. Do not cut over where you have sewn. When finished, the top of the sock tube should be narrower than the section of the sock that is sewn, much like the shape of a glass bottleneck. This sock tube will be the body of the doll sweater.
Take the other sock tube and cut it in half length-wise. Sew the edges of both cut halves closed. When done, you should have two thin sock tubes that will act as the arms of the doll sweater.
Turn the sweater sleeves you just sewed inside-out. Thread the sleeve into one of the holes of the body of the doll sweater. Push the sleeve nearly all the way through the hole. Attach the the sleeve to the body by sewing around the edge of the hole, being careful not to sew the sleeve shut. Do this for the other sleeve.
Turn the sweater inside-out again, which ought to be correct-side facing out. Role up the sleeves and sew the edges to make sweater cuffs if desired.
