How to Make a Desk Blotter for Your American Girl Doll

Create a study area for your American Girl doll so she can do her homework. Whether your doll has her own desk or shares yours, a desk blotter provides a work surface with the best texture for writing. Both you and your doll will get an A+ in penmanship when you spend time practicing your handwriting together. You do not have to worry about marks that go off the paper when your blotter has removable top sheets.

Things You'll Need

Poster board
Ruler
Scissors
1/4-inch satin ribbon
Hot glue gun or tacky craft glue

Instructions

  Cut a 4-inch by 3-inch rectangle from poster board and three rectangles the same size from green construction paper.

  Stack the construction paper on the poster board.

  Cut four 1-inch pieces of 1/4-inch satin ribbon.

  Place the center of one piece of the ribbon over one corner of the stack of paper at a 45-degree angle. The outside edge of the ribbon should be even with the point of the corner.

  Wrap the ends of the ribbon tightly around the sides of the corner and glue them to the back of the poster board with a hot glue gun or tacky craft glue.

  Wrap the other corners with ribbon in the same way.
