How to Repair a Scuff on a Vinyl Doll

Whether your vinyl doll is an old friend or a new acquisition, keeping it in the best shape possible helps extend the life of the piece. Vinyl is a durable material, but even the best kept doll can pick up scuffs, scratches and marks. Restoring and cleaning vinyl dolls is a straightforward process thanks to the stain-resistant nature of vinyl. Scuff marks are easily removed with a few basic tools found around the home.

Instructions

    • 1

Wipe the doll down with a baby wipe. Light scuffs and surface dirt will be removed by this superficial cleaning.

    • 2

Moisten a soft cloth and add a drop of a mild dish detergent, then wipe over the scuff marks to remove them.

    • 3

Dampen a cloth or baby toothbrush, then apply baking soda to it. Gently rub the cloth or toothbrush over stubborn scuff marks to remove them. Remove any baking soda residue with a soft cloth.

    • 4

Wet an abrasive facial cleaning puff, and gently rub it in circles over the toughest scuff marks. This technique works well, but should only be used in the case of stubborn scuff marks as it can damage the vinyl.
