What Kind of Glue Do I Use to Repair a Rub-A-Dub Dolly?

Rub-A-Dub Dolly debuted in 1973 and was redesigned in the early 1980s. This type of doll was made of vinyl, as were many dolls around that time if they weren't porcelain. Due to the age of these dolls, damages may have occurred over the years. Using the appropriate types of glue to make repairs is vital to keeping this doll around for years to come.
  1. Tacky Glue

    • Tacky glue is a multipurpose glue that can be used on several different craft and home projects. It is easy to clean up, as well. To repair a Rub-A-Dub doll's hair, apply the glue under the wig, and press down. Apply the glue with a small paintbrush to get even results. After you have repaired the hair piece, it is also possible to take the wig off with relative ease if you want to change the hair or do further repairs or modifications.

    Rubber Cement

    • At some point in your life, you have probably used rubber cement, possibly back in elementary school. This is the opaque, tacky adhesive that comes in a jar with a brush attached to the bottom of the cap. This adhesive bonds pieces together while still allowing flex and some give. Spread the rubber cement over the area that needs fixing with the applicator provided.

    E6000

    • The E6000 glue is a clear craft glue. This type of glue will give you a tight bond between the materials you are gluing together. You will also still have flexibility, if needed, after this glue has dried. Apply this kind of adhesive with the applicator provided.

    Liquid Nails

    • Although Liquid Nails is mainly used in home and construction applications, it can also be implemented in doll repair. Purchase a small tube of this to fix doll items, such as eyes and hair. Once you are done with the doll repair, you can use this adhesive around the house for other projects that need fixing.
