How to Make a Magnetic Pacifier for a Reborn Doll

Reborn dolls are life-like sculptures that resemble newborn infants. These one-of-a-kind artworks are made by and marketed to adult women more so than girls. However, like other baby dolls, a variety of accessories and clothing are sold to match reborns. Some accessories come in two parts and must be matched with a built-in component. For example, magnetic pacifiers can only be used with a doll that has magnetized hands or lips. Magnets and other internal add-ons can be easily inserted by removing the limb and gluing a strong craft magnet to the interior.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a real pacifier and remove the nipple. You can pull the nipple out with your hands, or use a tool such as scissors, a hot wire tool or large wire cutters.

    • 2

Sand down any rough edges to soften the plastic stump so that it does not mark the doll's skin.

    • 3

Lay a thin piece of felt over the doll's mouth. Wave a round magnet over the lips and chin to locate the internal magnet. Flip the magnet over to make sure the pole facing the doll is opposite polarity from the internal magnet.

    • 4

Place a drop of nail polish on the magnet to mark the side that will be glued.

    • 5

Glue the marked side to the pacifier base. Place the magnet above below or on the nipple stump depending on the location of the internal magnet. For example, if the magnet is in the chin, glue the magnet under the nipple so that when in use the pacifier base fully covers the mouth.

    • 6

Cut a circle of felt the size of the magnet. Glue the felt to the exposed surface of the magnet to protect the doll.
