How to Make Your Own Pin-Up Doll

The ease of shopping online for vintage items and the growing popularity of television shows such as Mad Men have put Retro styles back in the fashion spotlight. One of these current, yet vintage styles is known as the Pin-Up Girl look, which is inspired by glamor girl centerfolds in men's magazines. You can make a Pin Up Girl doll to display in your home, or to give to an older child who's interested in fashion.

  Research pin up artists and styles. Pin up does not necessarily mean lingerie--many of the images feature beautiful vintage dresses. Decide the general kind of image you'd like to replicate. Some themes are: military, beach inspired, and glamor girl.

  Paint the doll's makeup using the acrylic paint. A classic vintage look is comprised of black eyeliner and red lipstick. Let the paint dry thoroughly. Seal it with craft varnish, according to the package instructions.

  Attach and style your doll wig. Bettie Paige popularized a style that featured rolled bangs and soft waves. You can duplicate this look, or any other vintage hairstyle that works with the overall theme.
