Things You'll Need
Instructions
Dip a cotton ball in vinegar, then choose a spot on the doll's clothing that will not be too noticeable and rub the cotton ball over the area. This allows you to test the doll clothes before washing them to ensure the colors from the garment will not run or fade. If any colors run or fade, use a carpet cleaner instead of washing. Spray the carpet cleaner foam on a toothbrush, let it dry and softly brush the garment.
Remove the clothes from the doll. If there are any stains present, follow the detergent manufacturer's instructions for treatment.
Fill one jar with distilled water and another jar with vinegar. Soak the doll's clothes in the vinegar for an hour, then remove them and soak them in the water for an hour.
Mix equal parts detergent and water, using the recommended amount of detergent, and soak the garments in the mixture for one hour. If the clothes start to fade or run, remove them and wash them off in clean water.
Soak the garments in a mix of equal parts bleach and water if the clothes are still not clean. Use the bleach manufacturer's suggested amount and soak for an hour. Then, soak the clothes for an hour in clean water.
Mix an equal amount of water and vinegar and soak the clothes in it for 20 minutes, followed by a rinse in clean water. This will remove any leftover detergent.
