How to Remove Dust From Doll Clothes

Dolls are traditionally toys for children, but are also collected by adults. Antique dolls have been a collector's item since the 19th century. Dolls' clothing can accumulate dust when displayed in a girl's room or in a collector's glass cabinet and needs to be thoroughly cleaned. The clothes are fragile and should to be handled with care when cleaning.

Instructions

    • 1

Inspect the doll's clothing to make sure that there are no loose buttons or threads hanging out. Loose threads and buttons can be accidentally pulled off when cleaning.

    • 2

Dust the doll's clothes all over using a cosmetic brush. This will remove most of the dust that has accumulated on the clothes.

    • 3

Use an infant nasal aspirator for hard-to-reach areas, especially for small dolls. Use the nasal aspirator by pressing on the bulb to release air. Do this several times to remove the dust.

    • 4

Fasten the brush attachment of a vacuum to continue the cleaning process. A handheld vacuum can be too harsh when used directly on the doll. Cover the brush attachment with pantyhose to minimize the strength of the suction. Set the vacuum at the gentlest possible mode.

    • 5

Vacuum the doll's clothes using a downward motion. Work slowly until you have vacuumed the clothes thoroughly.

    • 6

Clean the area where you will store the doll before placing it back. This will minimize the number of times you have to clean the doll.
