How to Curl Clean Doll Hair

Part of the fun of playing with dolls and doll collecting is styling the hair. Wig shampoos and child's detangling sprays work for maintaining synthetic doll hair, which should be styled following a cleaning to avoid product buildup from previous hair treatments. Curling a doll's hair is a fairly simple procedure. You can use small perm rods or small rollers. Straws and toothpicks may be used to curl the hair on smaller dolls.

Things You'll Need

  • Small curlers
  • Medium-sized pot
  • Water

Instructions

    • 1

Place sections of the doll's hair in curlers. Do this until all the hair is set.

    • 2

Heat water in a medium-sized pot until nearly boiling. Place the doll over a sink or tub and pour the water over its entire head. Drench all of the hair and heat more water if necessary. Allow the doll's hair to drain over the sink/tub.

    • 3

Blot the hair dry with a clean towel. Lie the doll on another clean towel and allow it to dry for 15 minutes or until the hair is completely dry.

    • 4

Remove one of the curlers to see how curly the hair has become. If the hair is not curly enough, place the curler back in the hair and let the hair set for another hour or two. Remove curlers when the hair is set and style the hair as desired.
