How to Remove Marker From a Barbie

Barbie is lovely when she comes out of the box. Not long after she may have messy hair and be covered with markers. Maybe children think they are doing her makeup, but if you want the doll to look good as new, the marker should be cleaned off once in a while. A badly marked Barbie may need a few treatments, but restoring her to mint condition is an easy process.

Things You'll Need

  • Cotton balls
  • Cotton swabs
  • Benzoyl peroxide-based acne cream
  • Soft cloth

Instructions

    • 1

Make a solution of grease-cutting dish-washing liquid in a cup of warm water. One squirt of liquid is enough. Dip cotton swabs into the solution and rub at the marker on the Barbie doll. Repeat this process a few times until the marker is washed away.

    • 2

Apply a benzoyl peroxide-based acne cream to a cotton swap and dab it on a small test area to see if it will bleach or fade the doll's skin. Watch for blotchy white spots to appear. Immediately remove cream if this occurs. If no bleaching or fading occurs leave the cream on the doll.

    • 3

Apply acne cream that contains benzoyl peroxide to a toothpick if the marker stain is near a painted area such as the lips, eyebrows, or any area that is not flesh colored. Use the toothpick to dab at the marked area without touching the painted area.

    • 4

Apply the benzoyl peroxide cream to any other part of the doll that is stained by the marker. Set the doll in the sun for the entire day. Scrape the dried cream off the doll at the end of the day with your fingernail. Repeat the process several times if the process does not work.
