Baby Shower Place Card Holders
You can create place card holders for baby showers from acrylic and mini plastic baby dolls. Purchase clear acrylic rectangles measuring about 3-inches long by 2-inches wide and about ¼-inch thick at a craft or hobby store. Use a clear PVC adhesive to glue three or four 1 ¼-inch to 1 ½-inch long mini plastic baby dolls facing away from the rectangle along the front length edge. Glue mini dolls in corresponding positions facing away from the rectangle on the outer edge of the opposite length side. Allow the glue to dry for about three hours. Slide a place card with the shower guest̵7;s name between the rows of mini plastic babies.
Drawstring Purse/Blanket Travel Doll
Little girls once took handkerchief dolls and other small dolls to church or meetings to occupy themselves quietly. A drawstring purse that opens into a round blanket is a charming and inexpensive ̶0;pew̶1; toy. Cut a 6-inch diameter circle from double-sided quilted fabric or felt. Glue with fabric glue or sew double-folded bias tape around the top edge to finish the raw fabric. Measure 1-inch down from the affixed bias tape, and use a metal skewer to poke a hole every inch around the circle. Feed yarn or rat tail cord through the holes, in and out, to form a drawstring. Tuck several mini plastic baby dolls into the center of the purse and pull both ends of the yarn/cord to draw the purse up. Tie the cord into a bow.
Baby Doll Cake Stand
Mini plastic baby dolls can be adhered to plastic or ceramic pedestal cake stands for use at baby showers or baby birthdays. Use silicone-based glue that dries clear to adhere mini dolls over a ceramic pedestal stand and the outer edge of the cake stand. Don̵7;t use the glue on the cake base. Dolls can be densely glued or spaced to reveal the stand beneath. Silicone-based glues require about 24 hours to fully cure. Use PVC adhesive to glue plastic dolls to a plastic cake stand. Wait about three hours for PVC glue to set up. Both types of glue are available at home improvement stores.
Baby Doll Barrettes
Purchase metal French clasp barrettes at craft stores and adhere a row of mini plastic baby dolls along the top base of the barrette using a metal epoxy. Epoxies require the mixture of two or more solutions to activate the glue. Prepare the epoxy as recommended by the manufacturer and use in a ventilated room. Allow the epoxy to dry for about 24 hours.
