How to Build a Doll House for Your Sylvanians

The woodland Sylvanian plush toys depict beavers, hedgehogs, mice and bears that live in houses. You can create a dollhouse that will feature plenty of room for each Sylvanian family by starting with a bookshelf with a back. Dollhouse furniture is widely available in toy stores and at craft stores. Children could be included in the design process of each dollhouse room and will enjoy helping to choose the furniture for their Sylvanian plush toys.

Things You'll Need

Adjustable bookshelf with back
Acrylic paints
Paintbrushes
Ruler
1 yard vinyl fabric
Scissors
Cardboard box lids
Fabric
Hot glue gun
Dollhouse furniture

Instructions

  Adjust the shelves to at least 16 inches apart, as the largest Sylvanian plush toys are 14 inches high.

  Paint the entire bookshelf with the acrylic paint. Paint windows and a door on the back of the bookcase.

  Measure the width and length of the shelves and cut the vinyl fabric to fit. Place the vinyl on the shelves.

  Cut the box lids to the height and width of the shelves. Cover the backs and fronts of the lids with fabric using the hot glue gun to create room dividers.

  Place the dollhouse furniture in the dollhouse rooms.
