How to Get the Elmo Doll to Talk

Sesame Street's Elmo is a furry red monster that is popular among young children. Elmo's character is also a popular doll that can interact with children. The dolls are manufactured by several companies including Fisher Price and Gund. The dolls feature a giggling, singing or talking Elmo. The dolls are preloaded with several recorded messages that can help keep your child amused or help them to learn skills such as potty training. Elmo can be made to talk in several ways. Depending on the model of your Elmo doll, the steps may vary slightly.

Instructions

- 1
  Switch the "On/Off" switch located on the bottom of the Elmo doll's foot to "On." Squeeze his left foot to hear him talk.

  Stand Elmo up and raise his right arm. Bend him over and press his left foot. Elmo will begin to talk and laugh.

  Raise Elmo's right arm and lay him down on his stomach. Press his left foot and he will begin to talk and laugh.

  Stand Elmo up on both feet and raise his right arm. Tickle the center of his belly and he will sing his "Ticklish Song" while laughing.

  Squeeze Elmo's midsection, hands or feet to hear him talk. This option is available only for certain Elmo dolls such as the Check-Up Time Elmo and Potty Time Elmo.
