How to Brush Tangled Doll Hair

Doll lovers of any age can restore a doll to its original beauty through routine hair maintenance of washing and brushing. However, if you purchase a used doll or if time has caused your doll's hair to become disastrously tangled, you still may be able to save your doll's hair. Untangling your doll's hair will bring life back to it, and it may once again sit high on a shelf for viewing or once again become a child's favorite toy.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash the doll's hair using 1 cap full of a wig shampoo and cool water.

    • 2

Rinse the shampoo out with cool water.

    • 3

Soak the doll's hair in a large, shallow dish of non-concentrated fabric softener between thirty to sixty minutes.

    • 4

Rinse the doll's hair with cool water and squeeze out excess water.

    • 5

Air dry the hair by setting the doll on a towel. Do not allow the hair to fully dry, but allow it to go from wet to damp.

    • 6

Untangle any large knots with your fingers and separate the hair into sections, securing with small rubber bands. The size of the sections depends on the size of the doll's head and the amount of hair you want to work with at a time.

    • 7

Brush the doll's hair with the wig brush, one section at a time, beginning at the bottom and working your way up to the top. Spray detangler before brushing if necessary.
