Things You'll Need
Instructions
Comb gently through your doll&'s hair to remove any tangles. Tackle one small section at a time. If the hair is difficult to comb, try a smaller section.
Make a small, 1/2-inch part in the thickest part of the doll&'s hair, at the front hairline. This may be in the center or on on side depending on the doll&'s original hairstyle. If your doll has bangs, make the part behind the bangs.Push the hair down on each side of the doll&'s face and gather all the hair into a ponytail at the nape of her neck. Bind the hair with an elastic band and tie a ribbon bow around it. This is a good hairstyle to use with 18th-century clothes.
Part the doll&'s hair and brush it back as you did in step 2. Gather the hair at the nape of your doll&'s neck and twist it. Lift the twist along the back of your doll&'s head and hold it in place with bobby pins. This is called a "French twist." For a casual, modern style, spread the ends of the hair over the doll&'s head, separating it into sections for a wind-blown look. For a sleeker hairstyle, fold the ends toward the head, forming a bun on top. Tuck the loose ends of hair under the twist and secure all the hair with bobby pins around the bun and along the edge of the twist.
Part the hair from ear to ear and pull it to the back of the doll&'s head for 19th-century style. Bind the hair with an elastic band and tie a ribbon bow around it. For a modern version of this style, pull the hair to the top of the doll&'s head. For a variation on this style, gather the remaining hair into another ponytail.
