Instructions
Create the Pattern
Draw a trapezoid on one sheet of paper with the permanent marker measuring 3-1/2 inches for the top, 7-1/2 inches for the base, and 7 inches for the diagonal sides forming the body piece.
Draw a 6-1/2-by-1-inch rectangle on the bottom of the second sheet of paper curving on end of the rectangle forming the arm piece.
Draw a 7-1/2-by-1-1/2-inch rectangle above the arm piece curving one end forming the leg piece.
Draw a 5-inch-wide circle above the leg piece. Make a 2-3/4-by-1/4-inch rectangle connecting at the base of the circle forming the head/neck piece.
Cut the Fabric
Trace two copies of the head/neck piece and four copies of the arm pieces onto the back side of the flesh colored fabric using your pencil.
Trace two copies of the body piece and four copies of the leg pieces onto the back side of the patterned fabric using your pencil.
Cut the pattern from the fabric and pair the matching pieces together.
Sew and Stuff the Doll
Pin the leg and arm pieces together wrong-side-out. Sew the arm and leg pieces together leaving the short straight end open. Turn the legs and arms right side out and stuff with the cotton stuffing using the back end of the pencil to help.
Sew the head and body pieces together connecting the short end of the body to the neck.
Place one head/neck/body piece right side up. Pin and sew the arms and legs onto the body piece. Point the legs up toward the head and fold the arms over them. Safety pin them together to keep them out of the way.
Lay the second head/neck/body piece on top of the folded legs and arms right side down in line with the first head/neck/body piece.
Pin together and sew the head/neck/body pieces together leaving only the top of the head open. Turn the doll right right side out and stuff through the head. Sew the head closed.
Hair and Face
Cut several pieces of yarn to your desired length for the hair.
Sew the yarn to the head along the center part line starting at the front of the head and ending at the back using the embroidery floss.
Tie the hair into two pig tails using two leftover pieces of the patterned fabric.
Draw the face using the fabric markers.
