How to Design Your Own Paper Doll Outfits

Place your paper upside down on a flat surface and trace your doll body onto it. Use wrapping paper, scrapbook paper or even the glossy paper from magazines. Any paper will work, so choose one with a pattern or color you like.

Draw the shapes of the clothing that you want to make over the penciled image of the doll. Follow the lines of the shoulders, legs and waist so that you can make tabs to hold the clothing onto the doll.

Draw tiny rectangular tabs at the edges of the clothing, wherever the clothing lines match perfectly with the doll shape. Use at least one tab per shoulder and two around the waist. Cut the clothing out of the paper, with the rectangular tabs connected.

Lay the clothing right side up and stick adhesive rhinestones to various spots to decorate it or glue sequins to the clothing, as you prefer.
