How to Paint Plastic Doll Furniture

If you have little girls in your house, then you probably have plastic doll furniture lying around. If your little girls have grown up, you may find the need to paint this plastic doll furniture so that it can be used for other other purposes. Perhaps Barbie's pink bed can now become G.I. Joe's green army cot. Painting plastic can be tricky, but several new paints have been developed which make the process much easier.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Place the plastic furniture on top of the plastic tarp or sheeing. If the furniture can be disassembled, take it apart for easier painting. Wipe down the plastic furniture to remove any dirt or debris.

    • 2

Use the sandpaper to gently sand the entire surface of the plastic furniture. After sanding, rinse the plastic furniture with clean water to remove the grit from the sandpaper. Allow the plastic furniture to completely dry before continuing on to the next step.

    • 3

Tape over any parts of the furniture you don't want painted with the masking tape. Spray the entire surface of the plastic furniture with an even coat of spray primer. Allow the primer to completely dry.
