How to Make Couple Dolls

Make the Doll

  Read the directions on the doll pattern packet. Gather your materials according to the package instructions. The pattern can be for any doll. You will customize the doll to make your couple dolls.

  Cut all pattern parts from your fabric.

  Follow the directions on sewing and constructing the doll that appear with the pattern packet.

  Repeat for second doll.

Stitch the face and add hair

  Divide the face into four sections. Stitch a nose with black embroidery thread in the middle of the face.

  Stitch the eyes in the lower part of the two upper sections. Use an embroidery floss that is the same color of the person you will give the dolls to.

  Stitch the mouth, with red embroidery thread. Place the mouth a quarter-inch under the nose.

  Stitch yarn on the doll by cutting the yarn in 6-inch sections. Fold the yarn and stitch to the head with thread. Begin at the neck line and work up to the top of the head.

  Repeat for second doll making changes to the eye color and hair color.

Clothing

  Follow the doll pattern directions to make doll clothing that fits each doll.

  Customize the doll clothes for your couples dolls by making them from fabric that is similar to your recipients' favorite clothes. Clothing that depicts a special moment is also a good idea. For example, a wedding dress and tuxedo, graduation gowns or a vacation outfit for a special trip.

  Dress your boy and girl dolls.

  Stitch your couple dolls together at the hands. Joining them will allow them to remain a couple. If they are for newlyweds or an anniversary gift you may want to stitch them together at the lips.
