The first thing you should do is pick a color you like for molting your reborn baby doll. I like Pyrole Red 03, I will mix this with my favorite Mona Lisa's Odorless Paint Thinner. Remember to make the consistency that of a watery solution. I use a toothpick to only take a drop of the color I choose. Mix it well and continue to mix it throughout your molting process.

I then take a sea sponge I try to choose one with many natural deep wholes. I like to wet the sponge and then squeezes all the water out of it, dabbing it on a paper towel to be sure there is no water left. Take your paint brush and dip it in your color, now squeezes your sponge in your fist, leaving out a small portion of the sponge. Try and only hit the edges of the wholes on the top layer of the sponge. Blot it in a rolling motion onto a paper towel first, now onto your doll. If you think there is too much paint, blot your doll with a ribbed paper towel they seem to work the best. You can always add more paint to your doll but it is very hard to take off too much paint applied.

Complete blotting in sections until your doll is complete. Now follow your normal heating of the doll at 265 degree oven for 8 minutes. After your doll cools see how it looks, if you think it needs more repeat the steps. Now continue with your skin tone painting and blotting. You wont see a good finished product until layers of new skin tone are placed over your molting, you will then notice the molting colors as if they are under the skin. For more information look at Secrist Dolls or Bountiful Baby sites for more ideas. You can use many items in place of a sea sponge, but this is my favorite.
